Lead Pastor Roderick and Darlene Barnes

Email Pastor Roderick

Roderick Barnes was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. He attended Sam Houston High School and went from there to Rice University. It was there that Roderick was introduced to Campus Crusade for Christ. Through their weekly meetings and conferences Roderick heard the gospel over and over again. Although he was raised in a Christian home he had been holding out on making a commitment. During the winter break of his sophomore year, after hearing a compelling call to trust Christ, he did.

Roderick finished Rice in 1993 and immediately began both working in Information Technology and preaching. One year out of college he married a girl he had known since the third grade (Darlene) and together they began a technology company and serving in churches. Roderick eventually began preaching regularly with Campus Crusade and local churches. In 2006 he and Darlene began helping with church plants and then planted a church in San Antonio.

Roderick enjoys programming, preaching, time with his family, mentoring men, and watching bad science fiction. In 2020 he accepted a role as Lead Pastor with Communion Chapel.
